The Beagle dog breed is one that lives to be lifetime companions with humans. They are extremely friendly and are passionate adventure seekers. They were bred as pack hunters. Beagles will need at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise every day, such as routine walks, to keep him happy and calm.. This makes him an ideal house pet and companion for your family. They are the perfect choice for families that have children, as they will always work to please you and make you happy.

Caring For Your Beagle

As mentioned above, daily exercise needs to be part of the Beagle's physical upkeep. Let them run around in a safe wooded place or take them for long walks. He really loves and enjoys exploring paths and trails. If your beagle has been inside for an extended period of time, keep him on his leash when you take him out. He may run off if he catches a small preys scent if his energy reserves have been left un-active

It is recommended by veterinarians, that you have your Beagle tested for certain eye problems. He should also be checked for potential knee problems, thyroid, and dysphasia. The main health problems he may face are CHD and intervertebral disk disease. The average lifespan of Beagles is between 10 and 15 years. Watch out for their occasional minor health problems such as, epilepsy, cherry eye, glaucoma, patellar luxation, KCS, hypothyroidism, and chondrodysplasia.
